I am currently studying Biochemistry at University of Oxford having finished schooling at North London Collegiate School where I gained 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. I have had previous experience tutoring IB biology, chemistry, English, maths and economics as well as GCSE French, English, maths, biology and chemistry. I believe in altering my teaching style according to the student and have had experience in tutoring a variety of different academic abilities and ages. I am extremely organised and am happy to go above and beyond in regards to preparation and gathering resources to help the student. My experience in tutoring for IB and GCSE means that I am good at ensuring that all parts of the syllabus are covered and that the student is well informed of what’s expected in the exam. One of my IB students was recently admitted to Tufts University in Massachusetts while other students that I am currently tutoring for SAT are currently applying for numerous highly ranked American Universities.

I'm a graduate of the University of Oxford with a degree in Biology. My aim is to help students who find science challenging or uninteresting gain the self confidence needed to achieve the grades they deserve. My experience as a biology graduate enables me to provide students with information that goes above and beyond the expectation of the core syllabus. By being given the opportunity to study the subject at greater depth, students can expect to improve their level of understanding of the necessary material and thus display their knowledge with greater proficiency. I am able to teach students up to A-level in Biology and up to GCSE level in Chemistry and Maths. My lessons typically involve covering a topic of your choosing and enhanced by examples that aren't provided in standard textbooks. Every student has a different method of learning and so I adapt my teaching to suit each individual's learning style.

I'm an experienced science and language tutor with more than 10 years of teaching. SCIENCES I'm doing a PhD in Biology at the University of Oxford and have taught both within the university and in private summer schools in Oxford on the topic. I teach both high school students who need help preparing for exams, as well as university students who want to go in-depth within a certain subject or understand course material. My methods focus on applied learning, which means I'll help you understand why it is important to learn something and what you can do with that knowledge, not just how to learn. My teaching method for A-level students focuses on problem-based learning similar to university admissions interviews. I am comfortable teaching younger students in a variety of science subjects, including students with learning difficulties. You can expect a very fun, hands-on approach to learning. LANGUAGES I have extensive experience in teaching IELTS and other language exams (CPE, TOEFL). I have taught students successfully at the last minute. My approach is very tailored to the individual, so we would focus on the most effective techniques for the student. I have studied Spanish for over 10 years and obtained the highest certificate in Spanish as Foreign Language (DELE) with distinction. I was awarded first prize in many Spanish international competitions. For four years, I did courses in Spanish geography, history and culture, and I normally use what I learned to make my classes interactive and more than a way of teaching a language. I like immersing people in the Spanish culture, with its food, dances, famous painters and explorers. Have taught Spanish as foreign language for more than ten years, in one-to-one and one-to-few sessions. I adapt my style to the students I work with - for one, it can be all about having fun while translating lyrics of famous songs and watching Spanish short films (audio, experiential learners); for another it can be about rigorously tackling grammar and crafting complex stories. Regardless of the approach, you should expect that after a year of weekly/fortnightly classes you would advance by two levels (e.g. A2 to B2). I wholeheartedly recommend trying learning a language from a non-native speaker, as the way a foreign language is learned is very different from a native tongue. If you speak foreign languages, you know what I mean. If not, just give it a go!

A current A-level Biology teacher for a Sixth-form school based in Hammersmith, I am passionate about biological sciences and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences. I have graduated with a Masters by research in Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL, following a Bachelors in Genetics/Biology from the University of York. I have taught A-level/AS-level Biology to 32 students to date, and they have all progressed in understanding biological concepts and in improving their marks considerably. My teaching ethos involves open discussions and verbal testing, as well as exam-style questions through informal debates and whole curriculum revision. I tend to insist on working towards understanding the course materials more in depth and a more structured manner, while abiding to the marking scheme in exam questions. I consider I developed an efficient and fun teaching ethos, my strengths consisting of careful planning, well-structured and interactive lessons. I am a strong advocate of assisting teaching materials such as online activities, animated videos and schematic drawings – all of great support in the realm of Biology! I am available most weekday evenings, as well as the weekend. If you have any queries or would like to discuss further, please do get in touch and if needed, we can arrange a meeting prior to starting the lessons.

I am an experienced tutor with nine years of tutoring experience and just left my position working as secondary school Physics teacher to pursue full time tutoring. I have taught maths, chemistry and physics to A-level and biology up to GCSE. I am available during weekday evenings and weekends. I am a patient teacher who has worked with children of varying abilities with the objective of giving them the confidence to apply themselves to subjects which they may have found difficult in the past. I have a friendly, understanding disposition which puts the student at ease and helps to make their lessons something to look forward to rather than a chore.

Hello, I'm Chloe and I am currently training to be a teacher. I currently teach Science and Geography, although I have done a lot of tutoring in English and Maths up to GCSE level as well. I have a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Leeds, where I studied a broad variety of modules across the sciences and maths, meaning I have a strong depth of knowledge across the board. I have been tutoring in schools and privately for four years, in English, Science and Maths from KS2 to GCSE, so I am used to the expectations and requirements of the different exam boards. I tutor because I enjoy helping students achieve their potential, so in my lessons we look at worked examples and exam questions, and often this highlights gaps in theory knowledge which we can then address. If students wish to, I can plan assessments which directly measure progress. Aside from tutoring and teaching, I love being outside hiking and running, and I also enjoy spending time with my dogs! Looking forward to hearing from you!

I have a PhD in Biology from the University of Leeds. I have always been excited by animals and nature, as well as, intrigued about how our cells and bodies work. My dream was to become a researcher in Biology and 15 years later after 3 higher education degrees (PhD, MSc, BSc) in biology and two consequent postdoc positions as a Teaching and Research Fellow, and a Research Assistant in the UK, I am doing just that. I have 10 years of research experience and 5 years of teaching within the University of Leeds (tutoring, 1 to 1 supervision, practicals, marking exams/essays, assessing performance, feedback on reports/ essays/ thesis, invigilating exams, leading revision groups and giving a lecture). Teaching students has been very rewarding and fulfilling. My PhD was awarded with no corrections, and my MSc was awarded with a 1st. I have strong experience in general biology, zoology, evolution, development, neurobiology, behaviour, molecular and cellular biology. I also have experience in biochemistry, physiology, plants, ecology, immunology and microbiology. My PhD enables me to understand complex matters in Biology, knowing the forefront of knowledge about the subject matter, researching fast and efficiently when required and have high standards I am guided by my students in regards to what they want to get out of the tutoring, their pace, understanding and past knowledge. I use the socratic method of questioning, try to enhance my student’s critical thought and help them understand complex subject matters. I give only constructive feedback. I want them to learn and enjoy the process because Biology rocks! 😊 I am a very approachable, friendly person with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I respect each student’s different pace of learning and individual characters. I deal very well with all kinds of students even if they are shy, quiet or not very confident. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Kind regards and stay safe, Dr Elpiniki Kalogeropoulou

I am a friendly and driven individual who enjoys helping others. I have been part of numerous societies throughout sixth form, hence I am very comfortable forming friendships and communicating with a range of people. Additionally, I have a 6-year old brother, whom I have regularly looked after which has given me invaluable skills when it comes to making learning enjoyable for children and aiding their focus through fun activities. My background is in science. I have completed a BSc in Neuroscience (2.1) at Queen Mary University of London and achieved a Distinction in my Master's of Research in Translational Neuroscience from University College London. My thesis focused on the neuroeconomics of decision-making using computational modelling. I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma in sixth form, so I am additionally confident with approaching subjects such as History at Higher Level (including Standard Level), English Literature (Standard Level) and Mathematical Studies. As for GCSEs, I was the highest achieving student of the 2014 cohort at Harris Academy Peckham. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis and squash, cycling, travelling and learning languages.

I am a 4th year Biology student from Leeds currently in my final year. I have been passionate about my love for Science and Education since a young age and have plenty of experience tutoring online science and being a mentor to children. I achieved A* in Biology at both GCSE and A-Level (both with AQA) and my dedication to the subject has only increased as I have studied it at Uni. I achieved an A* in Geography at A-Level as well as an A in GCSE Chemistry, Physics, English Language, English Literature and Geography. I spent last year at the University of Calgary in Canada where on a year abroad where I took new classes I couldn't take in Leeds while being exposed to new methods of teaching and assessment, developing my knowledge of how students best learn. I am currently applying for PGCE courses from September 2021. I have plenty of tutoring experience. I have been tutoring with a charity called CoachBright since October delivering GCSE Physics to wonderful students. I tutor online weekly to several groups of school students across the country. I am a STEM Ambassador for my university where I run events to encourage school children into STEM courses at university, especially aimed at BAME students. I have been accepted onto a Summer Camp in Canada next year where I will mentor a group of children aged 7-15 by leading activities and helping them reach their potential. I also have experience mentoring 1st year university students in their transition to higher education leading weekly sessions with 20 students. Being a student myself still I am fully aware of how difficult grasping concepts and learning can be! Students need concepts explained to them in a short and concise manner. I then encourage questions to be asked before setting questions and activities and working through problems with them. The ability of a student to explain concepts back to me is a keystone of them understanding these concepts. They should be able to do my job by the end of the session. I determine a students type of learning (e.g. visual, auditory, written) and tailor my lessons to their form of learning (e.g. providing visual demonstrations, written explanations etc.).

I achieved 8 GCE O levels and 3 A levels in maths, physics and chemistry. I qualified as a science teacher in 2001 having studied previously for a physics degree. Since qualifying as a science teacher I have held various teaching posts as both science and maths teacher. More recently I have worked in the Hospital Education service as a maths and science tutor. My role as to deliver lessons at both KS3 and KS4 in maths and science to students who were not attending school for medical reasons. I taught students in their homes face to face and also online both individually and in small groups. I am familiar with online platforms such as Adobe connect, Teams, Zoom and Skype. During my time in the Hospital Education service I had to develop different teaching techniques to suit each individual student as they had a very wide range of needs ranging from severe mental health issues to chronic illnesses. I really enjoyed this challenge as I found it a very rewarding experience as I could see their improvement which in many cases resulted in their reintegration into school. My hobbies are playing the guitar, football and rowing.

I am a recent Oxford graduate, who read Ancient and Modern History at BA level. This niche course took an incredibly broad view of history, allowing me to study such disparate subjects as Alexander the Great and his early successors (333-302BC), and modern non-state actors in Mexico (2006-2014). As such, I have experience in engaging not only with history (as it is traditionally conceived) at a high academic level, but with classics and international politics as well. I received a high 2:1 in my finals, despite the difficulties caused by sitting the exams during the coronavirus pandemic, and attained a strong 1st (72) in my thesis, which might be considered a more representative statement on my attainment, as it was submitted prior to the crisis reaching tipping-point in the UK. At A-Level I had an unusually scientific background, taking History (A), Biology (A*) and Maths (A), whilst achieving an A in AS Physics. Outside of more formal studies, I also read an extensive amount of 20th century classic literature and philosophy, and am teaching myself Spanish. On top of this, I competed in Blues Gymnastics while at Oxford, have a black belt in karate, and travel as much as possible (with an especial focus on the middle east). As I hope all this indicates, I have a broad range of interests which inform a holistic approach to education and suggest a genuinely inquisitive and engaging nature. I look forward to encouraging my love of learning in others, as well helping them to understand the material they are studying.
