I am currently studying Biochemistry at University of Oxford having finished schooling at North London Collegiate School where I gained 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. I have had previous experience tutoring IB biology, chemistry, English, maths and economics as well as GCSE French, English, maths, biology and chemistry. I believe in altering my teaching style according to the student and have had experience in tutoring a variety of different academic abilities and ages. I am extremely organised and am happy to go above and beyond in regards to preparation and gathering resources to help the student. My experience in tutoring for IB and GCSE means that I am good at ensuring that all parts of the syllabus are covered and that the student is well informed of what’s expected in the exam. One of my IB students was recently admitted to Tufts University in Massachusetts while other students that I am currently tutoring for SAT are currently applying for numerous highly ranked American Universities.

I am a Dentistry student with 4 years experience, ranging from Key Stage 3 to IB level! My tutoring experience developed from helping my peers into tutoring focus groups to provide help for GCSE students. This has gradually progressed into tutoring online alongside studying for the IB diploma, continuing as I study for my degree. I find that varying my revision techniques such as creating engaging posters and flashcards, is fundamental in both my enjoyment and comprehension of subjects. Consequently, I pass these techniques on to my students in an attempt to ease their learning experience. My tutoring experience varies between small group sizes and one-to-one, in a wide variety of subjects. I like to run sessions which are varied and involve exam-style questions, presentations and active discussions. I love helping others and so developing a student's ability to understand science provides me with so much joy. As I progress through a degree which is centred on providing assistance and guidance for others, I find that it is only natural that my passion to help others continues. Studying dentistry has also broadened my knowledge of the human body through the biomedical sciences, allowing me to understand the human body from a more in depth level. I am very chatty and enjoy talking to anyone! In my free time I enjoy exploring London with my friends, reading and producing music. The subjects I have lots of experience tutoring are: Biology: 11+ to GCSE (AQA) and IB HL (option A for paper 3). Chemistry: 11+ to GCSE (AQA) and IB HL (option B for paper 3).

I have always been excited by animals and nature, as well as intrigued about how our cells and bodies work. My dream was to become a researcher in Biology and 15 years later after 3 higher education degrees (PhD, MSc, BSc) in Biology and a consequent position as a Teaching and Research Fellow in the University of Leeds, UK, I am doing just that. I have overall 6 years of teaching and tutoring experience. 5 years within the University (tutoring, 1 to 1 supervision, practicals, marking exams/essays, assessing performance, feedback on reports/ essays/ thesis, invigilating exams, leading revision groups and giving a lecture). On top of that, I have one year plus exclusive experience in AS/A levels, all exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC) via private tutoring sites online and being part of the National Tuition Program in schools. Teaching students has been very rewarding and fulfilling. My PhD was awarded with no corrections, and my MSc was awarded with a 1st. I have strong experience in general Biology, Zoology, Evolution, Development, Neurobiology, Behaviour, Molecular and Cellular biology. I also have knowledge of Biochemistry, Physiology, Ecology and Immunology. My PhD enables me to understand complex matters in Biology, knowing the forefront of knowledge about the subject matter, researching fast and efficiently when required, and have high standards. I apply “differentiation” in my lessons, as I am guided by my students individually in regards to what they want to get out of the tutoring, their pace, understanding and past knowledge. I use the Socratic method of questioning and try to enhance my student’s critical thought. I give only constructive feedback. I want them to learn and enjoy the process because Biology rocks! I am familiar with the curriculum for AS/A levels according to the gov.uk guidance. I am familiar with all exam boards and own all student textbooks. During my lessons, I use my own powerpoint presentations for each topic covered, which I then share with my students to aid with their revision. I also share various online material I approve, to help further with their revision. I am a very approachable, friendly person with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I respect each student’s different pace of learning and individual characters. I deal very well with all kinds of students even if they are shy, quiet or not very confident. I have a DBS enhanced check and apply all relevant safeguarding policies to online tutoring. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Kind regards and stay safe, Dr Elpiniki Kalogeropoulou

Prior to going back to university to study medicine, I was a deputy of department in science and taught KS3 and KS4 science and KS5 biology. I was head of KS3 and KS4 biology as well. I have just graduated with a distinction in MRes Research Methods in Neuroscience from the University of Leicester. Having previously undertaken a degree in Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience, I am now beginning an MA in Music Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. My wide variety of interests mean I am able to cover a range of different subjects and topics. I would also encourage the idea that all subjects overlap in some way or another, which furthers understanding. I achieved 11 A*-B GCSEs, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English Language and English Literature. My A-Levels were Biology, Psychology and Maths (Statistics). I am more than happy to tutor in any of these subjects. My style is very much student-led, aiming to get to know the student, and then work out how they may best benefit from my lessons. The main focus would be to build confidence and security, as more often than not this is what holds individuals back from progressing further. My previous experience consists of tutoring younger family members, as well as currently tutoring some of my peers on my course in Music Theory. My varied life experience means I am able to connect with people from different backgrounds, and to ultimately build a solid relationship that will enable the student fulfil whatever goals they wish to.

Hey! I'm Shivani, and I'm a medical student at King's College London. I did Year 12 and 13 in Dubai, where I graduated from the IBDP class of 2018. I have experience of just under a year in tutoring Biology and Chemistry, mainly at A-levels/IBDP level, but I am happy to take on anyone doing IGCSEs/GSCEs too! I really enjoy tutoring because it is a great way to help students out as well as build meaningful rapports with such a diverse range of people - I like to adapt my style of teaching and tailor it to your needs so all you need to do is let me know how you would like your lessons to go and I will definitely take that on board. Aside from tutoring, I also work part-time in COVID-19 vaccination centres, which keeps me busy in these very slow times! On top of that, I have a new found love for rugby which I started at university and I'm also an avid scuba diver (I have a Master Scuba Diver's license). Overall, I love to try new things and travel too. Do get in touch if it sounds like I would be a good fit for you!

I am a fourth year dental student at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry who has achieved 14A* & 6A at GCSE/IGCSE, A*A*A at A level (Biology, Maths and Chemistry,) an additional A at AS and A* in my EPQ project. Teaching is a passion of mine which I have embarked upon for the past 5 years. In order to best teach my student, I adapt my teaching style to best meet their needs and the way they want to learn. While some students learn best by going through the textbook, others learn better by being taught with illustrations. There are many different styles of teaching and my 5 years of experience in tutoring has allowed me to master these teaching styles for different students. Something a lot of students struggle with is finding enjoyment in learning the subjects they’re being taught which is why I always love adding ‘fun facts’ to my teaching. The reason I do this is because it makes the content much more interesting if they’re able to relate it to real-life scenarios and also, the example will help them memorise the content as they may remember the fun facts which will remind them of the content. Having attended a poor performing state school during my secondary school education, I was left to work out how to best achieve grades that will help me do well in life all by myself. I personally understand the struggle of being a student and I know what it takes to achieve fantastic grades. Of course, nothing good comes easy but with my teaching, I can make the hurdle of learning, a very small task to overcome. From the start of your lessons with me, if you wish, we can formulate a plan, which, if followed, will put you on track to achieving top grades for all your subjects. Having achieved 14A* & 6A at GCSE/IGCSE, A*A*A at A level (Biology, Maths and Chemistry,) an additional A at AS and A* in my EPQ project, I am confident in tutoring many different subjects but I especially enjoy tutoring: Maths, Chemistry and Biology. Having completed 20 GCSE/IGCSE/FSMQ/O level qualifications during my secondary school education, I am the best person to teach you the revision techniques that will allow you to achieve the exact same results if not better. I can help you with a step by step guide of how to gain a grade 9/A* in all of your subjects. I am THE MOST EXPERIENCED TUTOR WHO HAS COMPLETED THE LINEAR A LEVELS. I was part of the year group to first be taught the new Linear A levels and was able to achieve A*A*Aa + A* (EPQ) without any past papers available for this new specification while applying to dental schools and preparing for interviews throughout my 2nd year of A levels. Once I teach you how to study, make a study plan for you and give you the best method for revision, you can also achieve these grades or even better grades with ease. Having done well in my UKCAT exam, I am also more than confident in teaching this. There are many techniques and methods that I can teach you to help you prepare for the UCAT exam. To do well in the UCAT exam, you must be practising using the best tools available, you must spend the right amount of time practising this exam as well knowing the best methods to answer questions quickly in this time dependant exam. I have advise and methods for all of these aspects that have helped students in the past gain very high scores in the UKCAT & UCAT exam. During my application to Dental school, I have been able to achieve all four offers which includes offers from the following dental schools: Barts (Queen Mary,) King`s College, Cardiff and Sheffield. I am confident in helping with any part of the application process to dental or medical school (including: picking the right dental/medical schools, personal statements, interviews, etc) Many students do not realise that there is not only one pathway into Medicine or Dentistry. While spaces for these two subjects are very difficult to gain, every year, thousands of students are able to achieve them. What medical and dental schools do not want you to be aware of is that you can gain a place at these medical/dental schools even if you have not gained the right grades, UCAT/BMAT scores, haven’t passed the interview or haven’t written the best personal statement. This may come as a surprise to you but students are able to get into some medical/dental schools with grades lower than AAA or UCAT scores lower than 650 and I can help explain how this is possible. Having thoroughly researched all the different pathways of entry into dental school I especially enjoy helping others achieve their dreams of getting into dental/medical school. A question I get asked often is ‘WHY DID YOU NOT GO TO CAMBRIDGE/OXFORD/IMPERIAL/UCL?’ Simple, they don’t offer Dentistry as a course. The best Dental school in the country is by far Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (the university I am attending). I have over 5 years of experience in tutoring many different students from different age groups and I have helped all of them achieve their target grades or grades higher than their target grades. I am also DBS checked which you can check upon request.
