Hi, I’m Dharani! I am a final year medical student at King’s College London. I have been a tutor for 4 years, teaching maths and science up to A-Level. In addition to my 4 years of tutoring, I have experience as school mentor, helping a group of Year 12 students with their AS Biology during lunchtimes. The Sessions: Before the session, it would be helpful if you could let me know what you would like to cover. At the start, I will give you a topic overview and then we can do some exam questions to find out which areas need more work and to develop a good exam technique. I will try to be enthusiastic and make the session enjoyable so that you will be more engaged and therefore grasp the concepts better. I'm applying to medical school - can you help me? Yes! I have been through the application process and am familiar with how intense and demanding it can be! I hope I can impart some of my knowledge and advice to reduce the stresses of your university application and hopefully enable you to go into the process feeling a little more clued up.

I am currently studying Biochemistry at University of Oxford having finished schooling at North London Collegiate School where I gained 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. I have had previous experience tutoring IB biology, chemistry, English, maths and economics as well as GCSE French, English, maths, biology and chemistry. I believe in altering my teaching style according to the student and have had experience in tutoring a variety of different academic abilities and ages. I am extremely organised and am happy to go above and beyond in regards to preparation and gathering resources to help the student. My experience in tutoring for IB and GCSE means that I am good at ensuring that all parts of the syllabus are covered and that the student is well informed of what’s expected in the exam. One of my IB students was recently admitted to Tufts University in Massachusetts while other students that I am currently tutoring for SAT are currently applying for numerous highly ranked American Universities.

I am a trained professional physicist, having studied at both undergraduate and graduate levels at two of the worlds leading universities, and currently working as a radiotherapy physicist in an NHS hospital cancer treatment centre. I have 6 years experience in tutoring in physics and mathematics one-to-one and in small groups, with students of primary school age through to university undergraduates. I also have one year of experience working as a TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) instructor to Japanese students. As a professional physicist I am highly skilled and knowledgeable not only in physics, but also mathematics, statistics, computer programming and IT systems. I take a keen interest in all areas of science, and can confidently tutor in all of these subjects up to A-level. I have always been fascinated by science, and as a high school student was initially interested in studying medicine. Unfortunately, I found myself feeling faint at the sight of blood and guts, and doubts as to my suitability for the profession began to creep into my mind. I had an amazing physics teacher at A-level, who inspired me to instead pursue physics at university. I excelled in my undergraduate studies and then progressed on to PhD level overseas, where I undertook fundamental research in experimental nuclear physics. This involved smashing atoms together using a particle accelerator in order to understand the properties of nuclear matter, reactions such as nuclear fusion and nuclear fission, as well as to synthesise new 'superheavy' chemical elements that do not exist in nature! Funnily enough, my experience working with particle accelerators, electronics, and radiation detector technology lends itself very handily to working in the healthcare sector, both in the treatment of cancer using high energy X-rays, and in various diagnostic imaging techniques using both ionising and non-ionising radiation. So I have now come more or less full circle from my high school ambitions to work in medicine, except now I get to avoid the blood and guts! During my GCSE years, in fact I really didn't enjoy physics due to poor teaching at school, and strongly considered not taking the subject at A-level- I only did so reluctantly in the belief that it would aid my application for medicine. Without the excellent teaching that was provided by my A-level teacher, I am sure I would have followed a very different and perhaps less satisfying path. When I tell people I am a physicist, I often receive replies of 'Oh wow! You must be so smart!' Many people struggle with physics and maths in school, and are highly intimidated by the subject. What if I told you that physics, based upon the fundamental rules of nature, is in fact the easiest subject in science? It is my goal as a tutor to transform their perception of physics from an intimidating subject that must be endured throughout school and then never thought of again, to a way of thinking and a toolbox of skills that will be useful for their future in many aspects of life. In tutoring in my subject I hope that I can instill a curious interest in the fundamental aspects of nature such as my favourite teacher did for me, as well as keeping my own understanding of physical principles and teaching skills sharp for use in my science career.

I'm a graduate of the University of Oxford with a degree in Biology. My aim is to help students who find science challenging or uninteresting gain the self confidence needed to achieve the grades they deserve. My experience as a biology graduate enables me to provide students with information that goes above and beyond the expectation of the core syllabus. By being given the opportunity to study the subject at greater depth, students can expect to improve their level of understanding of the necessary material and thus display their knowledge with greater proficiency. I am able to teach students up to A-level in Biology and up to GCSE level in Chemistry and Maths. My lessons typically involve covering a topic of your choosing and enhanced by examples that aren't provided in standard textbooks. Every student has a different method of learning and so I adapt my teaching to suit each individual's learning style.

I am currently studying as a medical student at Kings College London. I have a lot of teaching experience, having taught year 1, year 7 and sixth form students once per week during my studies at sixth form. I am also a student ambassador for Kings, which I have done since 2015, whereby I teach primary and secondary school students basic clinical skills, human biology and advise students on the medical school application process. I am cofounder of a longitudinal mentoring scheme for year 12 students aspiring to study medicine, called InsideMed, which is now in its third year of running at Kings College London. From a logistical standpoint, this took much organisation, but also I acquired knowledge and experience on how to create a supportive learning environment, how to pace learning and ensure every session was useful, and how best to monitor student progress. I have a clear strategy on how to approach tutoring. I strongly believe in a collaborative teaching relationship, and to make sure I am meeting the students expectations I like to establish their goals, how they best learn (whether that be colourful visual diagrams, practice questions or acronyms) and match this with the examination board curriculum to ensure the student passes with flying colours. I expect my student to do short homework tasks in between sessions, as I have learnt through my extensive years of experience in education, the best way to learn is spaced repetition and continual practice.

I use a very flexible, student-centred approach, catering to the individual needs of students who learn differently. I believe building confidence and self-advocacy goes hand-in-hand with teaching skills and metacognitive strategies. With over 3 decades’ experience working with dyslexic, AD/HD, Aspergers, gifted and other neurodivergent and exceptional students, I focus on discovering the STRENGTHS of pupils to mitigate their needs. All students learn differently and all students can learn once we find their cognitive style. I hold an MSEd in Exceptional Educational Needs and a BA in English as well as a PGCert in Information & Library Studies. I have worked mainly at the secondary and High School level teaching in all subjects. I specialise in the American Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and in research and essay-writing skill development. I prefer to use a "live workshopping" approach using Zoom whiteboard or the Edit-Suggest tool in Google docs so students can follow my written editorial suggestions in a real-time 1:1 intensive session while I simultaneously provide oral feedback. My students typically come to me suffering mediocre attainment, low confidence, and untapped potential but leave/graduate with huge improvements beyond parental expectations--as my recommendations will confirm. Over my 30-year career, I have helped hundreds to achieve success. I also specialise in preparation for American examinations including College Board AP (Advanced Placement) ACT, SAT and PSAT exam preparation. I am also qualified in psycho-educational and psychometric testing by the BPS (British Psychological Society) and can provide pre-diagnostic testing and screening for suspected dyslexia and dyscalculia and IQ testing for cognitively gifted and twice-exceptional students. I have enhanced DBS clearance, having worked for many years in independent schools and with HNW families in Surrey. As a teacher as well as the parent of a teen with dyslexia who is also gifted, I have a unique insight into the strengths and needs of twice-exceptional students and familiar with the emotional sensitivity that such students often possess. I have worked mainly within the International school system with “Third Culture Kids” and dependents of high net-worth foreign nationals and expats living in the Greater London area. I am happy to supply references from previous clients (parents of clients) upon request.

Hi! My name is Dan and I am a fourth year medical student at University College London. Over the past few years, I have tutored many students of all different ages and abilities. This has included students from Year 6 to Year 13, and I have developed a great relationship with all of them. I pride myself on making a strong connection to the student and personalising the tutoring experience around their needs, not mine. I consistently achieve fantastic results in tutoring. A particular highlight has been lifting a student's grade 4 in mathematics to an 8 in their GCSEs in the space of three months. I also work with several students in their application to medical school, providing advice with personal statements, entrance exams, and providing mock interviews.

I'm a current Neuroscience undergraduate at King's College London, on track to achieving a First Class Honours in my degree. I've tutored GCSE Maths, Science and A-level Biology to students for 2 years, all of which have seen improvements in grades and have gotten into Russell Group Universities! My teaching style is tailored to improve specific student pain points, and to encourage critical thinking to tackling problems. I always find students sticking only to the syllabus material, but actually building contextual understanding is important in achieving high marks, especially during A-Level. I can also teach music (achieved Grade 8 piano), or any application support (successful in securing selective summer internships and graduate offers).

I am a MSc Pharmacology graduate who has studied Biology from a primary to a higher tertiary level. I have tutored many students and friends in person, including those who are cramming for an exam. My methods of teaching include practical and real-world examples, to ensure maximum retention of information. I focus on the important parts of each topics and give additional examples that students need to boost their exam marks. As most parents and students may already be paying large amounts for their biology education, I believe that they should not need to pay a high rate for extra tutoring. Sometimes students simply require repetition or a different teaching style in order to learn a subject. In addition to the lessons I give, I will also provide supplementary reading and homework should students request it. I am also available via email for students with last minute questions before an exam/test Please note I only offer online tutoring, as I believe this is the most efficient way to offer multiple lessons in a week to each student.

I am an experienced tutor with an Environmental Sciences MSc from Imperial College London. I am patient, approachable and friendly and have a very adaptable approach to teaching. I like the student to feel at ease, enjoy learning as much as possible and to ultimately set the pace. I have experience tutoring students with SEN's, such as dyslexia. I specialise in English, Geography, French and RS up to GCSE level. I have taught English to both children and adults overseas (Sulawesi, Indonesia and Kenya) and in the UK. I have lived and worked in Guinea, West Africa and taught children in both groups and 1-1. I have experience lesson planning and finding creative ways to assist the learning process. I’m very organised and self-motivated and just love helping others learn. Teaching is something I truly enjoy doing- connecting with the student and helping them to connect with the subject. I have experience teaching SEN students and have completed a Special Educational Needs (SEN) diploma, specialising in dyslexia. Over the years I have developed my own learning techniques which has helped me navigate my way around the education system, but most importantly develop an understanding of the need for patience and listening to a persons unique learning requirements.

Are you thinking about getting a Biology GCSE tutor?

Biology GCSE tutors near me?

As a core scientific subject, Biology is often the most popular amongst its counterparts. Discovering the inner workings of ourselves as well as the world around us is just a small part of the beauty of studying Biology, and is certainly a heavy subject to handle even at GCSE level. Whether you are taking single, double, or triple award science, a good understanding of the principles of Biology is essential for you to succeed. At Tutor House, we can provide you with a trusted and experienced Biology tutor who will guide you or your child through the learning process.

Our Biology tutors can provide exam board specific preparation to ensure that our students are confident in all areas for the GCSE Biology exam. Achieving the highest possible grade in your Biology GCSE is essential particularly if you are considering studying the subject at A-level. Having a solid foundation at GCSE can prepare you in more ways than one for the next step in your education.

Even if you are not thinking about taking your Biology studies any further it is important to consider the impact of lower grades when applying for internships and apprenticeships and ensure that you don’t let yourself be overlooked by potential employers. Competition for places on apprenticeships, traineeships as well as internships is higher than ever meaning its more important than ever to invest in your or your child's education to make sure you are best prepared for the future.

With a Biology tutor from Tutor House, you can relax in the knowledge that you are getting the best possible support for you or your child in the run-up to the GCSE Biology exam. For the best results, we recommend finding and booking your tutoring lessons at least 3 months before the Biology exam date. With an adequate amount of time, we have seen our past students achieve well above their current grade level and achieve results up to 3 grades higher with Tutor House tutoring!
