My name is Samuel and I graduated from Cambridge University in 2007 with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. In addition to this, I hold a Professional Tutoring Certificate (Distinction awarded) and I am a fully qualified teacher too. I have a passion for teaching/tutoring Mathematics and Sciences (mostly Physics, Chemistry and Biology) to GCSE and A-level students. I have mentored and tutored students from an assorted array of backgrounds since 2002, helping some to get to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities and helping them with interview preparations when requested. My teaching journey started in 2002 when I took a year out working as an assistant/support teacher actively involved in mentoring, lesson planning and marking. I take pride in having been commended for my teaching style where I always ensure to explain everything in the simplest of manners and take an approach that most suits the student to bring out their best effort. After graduating from Cambridge, I went on to seek professional employment as a graduate engineer but never left my passion for teaching. I therefore volunteered as a STEM ambassador where I shared my passion for Science and Mathematics to students from various backgrounds. I continue to take utmost joy and pleasure in tutoring and helping students attain their full potential; and in this regard, I can assure any prospective students that they’ll be getting the most out of their time and money whilst paving way for a bright future.

I am an energetic and creative Masters-educated tutor with a passion for teaching. I started tutoring while I was in high school and focused specifically on CIE A-Levels as well as UCAS and Personal Statement advice. I successfully secured places in some of London's top universities and can help other students do so. I have 4 years experience tutoring and believe that my strength lies in forging personal connections with my tutees which helps me better understand their needs, not so long ago I was their peer meaning I can thoroughly emphasise with their concerns and struggles. To see the best results, I believe that study programmes must be tailored to each student, with realistic and achievable milestones and goals being outlined. So far, the students I tutored attained or surpassed their academic goals, achieving A's in the A-Level exams I tutored them for and securing places at top UK universities.

What I can teach: University level: Statistics in R, Numerical Linear Algebra, Computational Logic, Syllogism, Geometry, Research Method, Matlab, Abstract algebra, Discrete Math, Real and Complex analysis, Topology and more! You name it, we handle it :) Secondary level: Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biology Are you a secondary level student or the parent of one and overwhelmed by the list of modules above? Then do not worry! I do a great job with high school students as well. See my relevant experiences further below... My approach is to ensure that you, the student, enjoy the essence and usefulness of your studies whichever the level. Always ask: Why? How? There is no stupid question. There may be stupid answers... :D It is okay to make mistakes. We will learn from them and do better and better! :) Ability to communicate fluently both in English and French Methodologies and approach are adapted to suit each student's needs. queries and purpose. Students are taught to think with an open mind, to explore multiple ways of solving a problem, to choose the optimum method and to appreciate the applications in real life scenarios. Past Experiences: Informal Lecturer at Undergraduate levels (Year 1 - 3), Honors level (2009-2012) at the University of Mauritius, Mauritius (While being a student myself, I used to animate crash courses regularly...) Demonstrator and Tutor in Physics for Year 1 (2016-2019) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (while doing postgraduate studies) Taught 4th year / Honors course (2017-2019) For National Astrophysics & Space Science Programme, (NASSP) At the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa Module name: Mathematical Methods and Computational Physics IGCSE, AS, A level Math, Physics, Chemistry, Science, Computer Science (2020) At Danie Teach Online University courses in math and coding (2020-2021) on an online platform based in London, UK Coding for kids (2021-2022) Tekkie Uni, eTeacher Online Tutoring/Teaching (2009-now) CAPS, IGCSE, AS, A, university, others I am also a student myself, learning a new language: Turkish, and also keeping up with development in the field of quantum physics, specifically quantum biology, quantum computing, machine learning and more. The advantage of taking lessons from a tutor who is also a permanent student is that I will be able to share my own methods of learning with you that work well for me as well as those that do not work for me as it may work for you! Learning is a unique thing. No book can describe your brain completely. First we will learn "how to learn", and then we will enjoy learning together :) Since I have worked both in real schools and universities and online, I will be able to provide you the best resources to thrive throughout your development process.

I have been a Qualified Teacher for 22 years, working in secondary schools, until taking early retirement late last year. I've a BSc in Cell and Molecular Sciences, an MSc in Science, and a PGCE (secondary science). Whilst working as a full time teacher, I also taught ICT, design technology, art, English and horticulture, so I have developed a really good range of teaching strategies for students of all ages and abilities. I have tutored maths outside of school, working with two students who were trying to get their level 4 in maths - both of whom were successful! I have also run small group revision sessions in school on a regular basis. Generally I find that if a student wants to improve, the key is to develop their confidence. Talking to them to find out why they need the specific qualification, what their interests are, their personal academic strengths and where they think their weaknesses are all allow me to tailor sessions in such a way as to make a subject more accessible. Outside of teaching, my interests are art (I am a printmaker and painter), cycling (both on and off road) and music (I have been learning to play the guitar for a number of years now). I have experience with the AQA and Pearson Boards

I am a tutor with over 8 years experience and with a proven track record of students achieving way above what they may have been predicted. I have worked with all ages, from Primary to A-level. My specialty is Maths and Sciences. I teach Maths up to A-level and Sciences up to GCSE, I also have a BTEC Award in education and training, and therefore am qualified to teach over 16s. I have experience tutoring online as well as in person, one on one as well as small groups. During my sessions I aim to try and make the content more relatable to the learner and often come up with innovative ideas to help explain and make concepts easier for the student to remember. To ensure my student has fully understood concepts, I make them practice example questions until they can answer the question perfectly without any help from myself. I also ensure that all my students improve their exam technique and their revision technique by assessing their learning styles and advising them how to revise effectively, giving them tips and tricks to learn concepts and how to tackle exam questions. I teach them how to answer exam questions, what to include in the question, and how to approach the exam. I also try to help my students overcome any anxiety they may feel before the exam and give them coping strategies to help with the nerves during exam time. I have found during my time as a tutor, the main issue is confidence, once the student's confidence increases, their attitude toward the subject improves, their quality of work improves and as a result they achieve above and beyond what they and their teachers thought they were capable of. I currently tutor the following subjects: A-Level Maths GCSE/KS3 Maths GCSE/KS3 Physics GCSE/KS3 Chemistry GCSE/KS3 Biology

An experienced and highly qualified A level and GCSE Biology teacher with a passion for supporting students in gaining the confidence to achieve their full potential. Four years experience teaching and tutoring the AQA specification, three of which in an OFSTED outstanding Grammar school. Experienced in supporting students struggling to meet their target and those wanting to unlock the A/A*. I have supported many students in achieving grade 9s (at GCSE), A*s (at A level) and improving their exam technique in order to gain confidence in their own ability. I graduated in 2017 from the University of Leeds with a 2:1 Biology BSc with honours and from Edge Hill with a Secondary Science PGCE in 2018. Since then I have been a Biology/Science teacher but since Sept (2021) I have chosen to tutor fulltime. Evidenced success in helping guide struggling students through complicated content by drawing it out and supporting them in providing the explanation themselves. Students I have tutored previously have gone from a grade 5 to an 8 at GCSE and from an E to a C at A level. All students I have tutored have attained at least their target grade. I have an `exam technique` focussed approach to ensure together we are improving the students ability to answer any question under pressure and making a positive impact long-term.

Hi, I am Gordon. I am a Graduate of Cell and Molecular biology and gain my degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I am currently a master's student studying MRes Brain Science at the University College London. I have a great affinity for Neuroscience and Biology and am also passionate to share my knowledge in Biology. The MRes program has also afforded me the opportunity to communicate ideas clearly and accurately. Members of our research group all work on very different projects and, as we specialise in our own field, it is easy to overlook the fact that our work could be difficult to understand. In our weekly meetings, I have the opportunity to improve my communication skills. These experiences led me to develop a repertoire of strategies to explain abstract and unfamiliar concepts and I believe this will be very useful in teaching as well. I understand the difficulties of studying biology and am dedicated to guiding students to achieve better in the field of Biology.

Hi, my name is Malcolm, and I’m a 4th-year medical student at Imperial College with a particular interest in biomedical engineering. I previously attended St. Georges College Weybridge and obtained 3A*s at A-level in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. I’ve tutored Maths and Biology at both GCSE and A-level, and I enjoy being able to share my love of the subjects with others. I am also dyslexic, which means that I have had to come up with a lot of different ways to understand and retain information during my studies. Which I hope will allow me to adapt my teaching style to whatever suits your needs. Learning subjects at school for an exam can be both daunting and dull, but hopefully, with some help, we can make the subjects more enjoyable and get you attaining the best grades possible.

Former Cambridge University college lecturer in natural science. I have a double first, first class masters in neuroscience and doctorate in medicine from Churchill College Cambridge. I have postgraduate qualifications and have taught at a postgraduate level. I have published research in neuroscience while working at Cambridge and Manchester Universities. Nowadays I live in Bolton, with my beautiful 10 year old son who has special needs. My son is my youngest student and every week we work on a different topic and prepare a presentation that he gives to his class at school. My hobbies include 3D printing, mathematics, astrophysics and looking after my rescue dog and cat. I also write music and play the bass guitar. What primarily motivates me to work as a tutor is my love of science. Ever since I was a young child I had a fascination with the subject, as it explains how the world works. I also enjoy helping people and playing a role in getting a student into a good university, which I hope is the first step towards a rewarding professional career for them. My first experience of tutoring came when I was only 17 years old. My 15 year old sister had been estimated C and D grades in her GCSE exams. My mum wanted her to get A grades but the teachers at our school had told my mum this was beyond her academic ability. My mum was the type of lady who never took no for an answer, and undeterred, requested that I tutored her. Although I had never tutored before I rose to this difficult challenge and taught my sister in all her 10 GCSE subjects. The teachers at our school were made to eat their words when my sister walked away with 10 straight A grades. Again at A level my sister was initially not estimated A grades so my mum asked me to leave Cambridge and drive to Bolton every weekend to fix this, so I did. My sister was my first success story. She is now a practicing doctor and is a partner in a GP surgery. At Cambridge I did not just get a double first, I got the first place out of a year of 1000 students (250 medical, 50 vets and 700 natural science) in the majority of disciplines I studied. In recognition of this I was awarded the William Harvey scholarship, a prestigious award that recognises outstanding performance in students who come from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background. I also held the Churchill College scholarship for every year I studied there. In 1997 I studied for a masters degree in neuroscience. Again I came top of the entire year and the research work I did at this stage was published in the Journal of Physiology. As a result I was asked to give my first ever lecture to a large group of university academics at a conference of the Physiological Society. Speaking to a crowd of about 100 professors and doctors and delivering a speech when I was a mere student was a daunting prospect, but I controlled my nerves and the lecture was hailed as one of the best from the conference. Later that year I was approached by St Catharine's College to teach the undergraduate students physiology which is the branch of biology which deals with how tissues and organs work in animals and plants. It was quite irregular for a 20 year old student to be approached to lecture at a college, however the Director of Studies must have seen my potential. Within 2 weeks Magdalene College approached me to also work there. Word soon spread round the university that I was better at teaching than the more qualified professors and within a few months I was working 36 hours a week teaching in 16 of the 31 colleges. I extended my subjects from just physiology and began teaching anatomy, genetics, biochemistry and neuroscience. In fact it was so much fun I neglected my own studies a little bit, so I stopped 4 months before my finals and still managed to pass them with a distinction. I went on to teach at Cambridge until I was 26 and then taught at Manchester while researching the neuroscience of diabetes. Nowadays I prefer to teach at GCSE and A level on a one to one basis, because I deal with students with a more diverse range of backgrounds and academic abilities. This presents me with additional challenges that I never encountered when working at a university level.

I am a qualified teacher. I have a doctoral degree in science from the Manchester University. I have also obtained a Master’s degree, in biomedical science and a Bachelor’s degree (in Genetics ) from the University of Sheffield (UK). I have completed a postgraduate course in education and gained my qualified teacher status from Manchester University. Currently , i am a science teacher in a UK mainstream school. My career has provided me with a rich variety of teaching opportunities. i have been involved in teaching and training of undergraduate students in different science subjects including biology , chemistry and physics at both Sheffield and Manchester Universities. I have lots of experience of teaching Key Stage 3 , GCSE and Alevel pupils in both mainstream and private schools in UK. I have thought Science subjects ( physics , chemistry and biology) to Key Stage 4 and Key stage 5 students , preparing them for GCSE and A levels exams.I always make sure my students have the prior knowledge required to understand a new topic. All of the topics in science subjects are related and just get complicated as the students progress to higher level. So it is essential for students to have a solid prior knowledge for the new topics they are learning. It is also essential to apply pupils knowledge to exam questions all the time to make sure that they know how to use key terminologies and answer those important questions in the exam. The mark schemes is very specific for GCSE and Alevel exams and the students often dont know how to answet the question properly despite having the knowledge .So it is vital that they practise those questions after they gained the knowledge with an experienced teacher to secure a high grade in exams. I practice this with my KS3 students aswell so they get into habit of how to use key terms to answer questions.

I am an Oxford graduate, who read Ancient and Modern History at BA level. This niche course took an incredibly broad view of history, allowing me to study such disparate subjects as Alexander the Great and his early successors (333-302BC), and modern non-state actors in Mexico (2006-2014). As such, I have experience in engaging not only with history (as it is traditionally conceived) at a high academic level, but with classics and international politics as well. I received a high 2:1 in my finals, despite the difficulties caused by sitting the exams during the coronavirus pandemic, and attained a strong 1st (72) in my thesis, which might be considered a more representative statement on my attainment, as it was submitted prior to the crisis reaching tipping-point in the UK. At A-Level I had an unusually scientific background, taking History (A), Biology (A*) and Maths (A), whilst achieving an A in AS Physics. Outside of more formal studies, I also read an extensive amount of 20th century classic literature and philosophy, and am teaching myself Spanish. On top of this, I competed in Blues Gymnastics while at Oxford, have a black belt in karate, and travel as much as possible (with an especial focus on the middle east). As I hope all this indicates, I have a broad range of interests which inform a holistic approach to education and suggest a genuinely inquisitive and engaging nature. I look forward to encouraging my love of learning in others, as well helping them to understand the material they are studying.

Hi there, my name is Ines, and I am a Chemistry Graduate from the University of Edinburgh. I am enthusiastic about chemistry and how it can explain everything that goes on in everyday life. I also love teaching Maths and the other sciences too! About my session: In my sessions I will focus on making sure concepts are understood and then help my student develop the skills needed to apply them. I have been tutoring for over 3 years now and have noticed a pattern emerge among students. Most are missing exam technique, they understand everything at school but struggle to get the grades they deserve in tests. If this happens to be the case for you we will tackle this is past paper questions filling in any gaps in your knowledge as we go along. I aim to teach what the student wants covered unless they are unsure of where to start. If they are unsure, past papers will help me to identify areas that need work on and we can structure lessons from there.

Biology GCSE tutors near me?

As a core scientific subject, Biology is often the most popular amongst its counterparts. Discovering the inner workings of ourselves as well as the world around us is just a small part of the beauty of studying Biology, and is certainly a heavy subject to handle even at GCSE level. Having a solid foundation at GCSE can prepare you in more ways than one for the next step in your education.

Even if you are not thinking about taking your Biology studies any further it is important to consider the impact of lower grades when applying for internships and apprenticeships and ensure that you don’t let yourself be overlooked by potential employers. With a Biology tutor from Tutor House, you can relax in the knowledge that you are getting the best possible support for you or your child in the run-up to the GCSE Biology exam. For the best results, we recommend finding and booking your tutoring lessons at least 3 months before the Biology exam date.
