I am a highly experienced tutor of A level (and GCSE) Physics, Chemistry and Maths with an additional specialism in GASMAT, where I have many successful students. I provide support for students preparing for their entrance exams, and for their GCSE and A level exams. I also assist students with their UCAS applications and university interviews. I have a lot of recent experience of teaching GAMSAT students, a specialism of mine. Recently I won a prize as the best new tutor at a tutorial agency, and last academic year my six A level Physics students achieved A*, A*, A*, A*, A* and A respectively. I am a top-rated GAMSAT tutor. My aim is to help my students to reach their full academic potential and get the grades they deserve. I believe in making sure that the underlying fundamental concepts are fully understood as this provides a solid foundation. There is nothing more rewarding than a student saying, "oh yes, now I get it". My tutoring style is to seek to identify the key areas where support is required and then patiently and sympathetically to help and encourage my tutees to master these areas. I have a post-graduate teaching degree and have taught in a number of Schools, Colleges and Universities. I tutor individuals and also groups in schools, sixth form Colleges and Russell group universities. I was a lecturer at Imperial College for 26 years where I was an admissions tutor, senior tutor and postgraduate tutor and became deputy director of the Graduate school. I won the Rectors award for excellence in teaching at Imperial College twice. I have recent experience of tutoring and one to one teaching and also of tutoring in four central London schools, namely the City and Islington college, the Harris academy St Johns Wood, St Saviours and St Olave' school and the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson school, Islington. In my spare time I like to swim, exercise in the gym and kayak. I also love to travel and have lived and worked in Singapore, Sydney, Dallas and on a short placement in the Punjab. I support QPR more in hope than in expectation!

I have a wealth of experience in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Finance and Accounting, and Musical Theory. I am able to tutor in all of these areas to a high level, having studied all of them myself to a high level (having gained the associated qualifications in each instance). As mentioned above, I am very enthusiastic about all of these subjects, whilst being very patient, with the ability to break concepts down as needed. I am able to tutor for school entrance exams also (I have personally experienced the 7+ and 11+ exams, and I am very aware of the current attainment levels required by the country’s top schools).

I am a Cambridge Certified Professional Educator and an Academic Coach. Since 1999, I have been tutoring overseas, Math and multiple science subjects, to pre-college, undergraduate and University students. My experience includes MYP-IB-IGCSE-GCSE-O & A Levels, American and British and other international streams. I adapt the blended learning style, where difficult concepts are combined with animations, videos, images, visual tools and available online resources. Before starting a regular lesson, I motivate my students by first presenting a practical scenario and then discuss problems and their possible solutions.

I am currently in the fourth year of my PhD in pure mathematics at the London School of Geometry and Number Theory (Imperial, UCL, and King's). Before that, I was an undergraduate at the University of Queensland, Australia, where I earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours Class I with an extended major in Mathematics. I also have a Diploma of Languages majoring in German, and spent a year of my undergraduate degree studying in Munich. As an undergraduate, I gained a variety of experience from both private tutoring and teaching in university environments for students ranging from high school to undergraduate level. Before I began university I did a gap year working for a prep school in Surrey, where I primarily helped students between the ages of 8 and 13 who were struggling in class and/ or being disruptive. I also helped prepare students for the 11 and 13+ exams. I believe that mathematics is an under-appreciated discipline, and I have a passion for teaching maths in an intuitive and relatable way that applies real-world examples. I have ample experience in communicating complicated ideas to students of all abilities and in guiding students to their own understanding.

Hi there! I have a MSc in theoretical physics at Imperial College. I graduated from the University of Bath in 2015 with a first class degree in Physics, and spent a year on placement working at a Laser facility in Oxford as part of my degree. Whilst undertaking my postgraduate studies I'm residing at my family home in St Johns Wood and am willing to travel far and wide to reach a wide range of tutees. I grew up in London and attended Highgate School and UCS where I achieved 9 A/A* grades at GCSE and A-levels in Physics (A), Maths (A), and Economics (B). Whilst attending school I received some personal tuition, which was a great help and took vast amounts of pressure from my shoulders; allowing me to pursue extra-curricular activities. This was extraordinarily beneficial when it came to applying to University, and provided a solid base for me to chase my academic dream. In my leisure time I like to spend time broadening my knowledge outside of physics, taking a keen interest in philosophy and literature; utilising the Imperial’s substantial offline and online resources to accommodate my interest. In my year off between secondary education and University, I traveled to China for two months to study Kung-Fu. Before heading out to the far east, I took a beginners course in mandarin so I could communicate with the locals, to make the experience more fulfilling and enjoyable. Although Physics is one of my main interests and the topic of discussion in most scenarios of my day-to-day life, I feel it is important to find some separation and pursue other areas of interest. Before damaging both my knees, a few years ago I formed a Sunday league football team with a few old friends that I help run. I am a keen film fan, an avid follower of the comedy circuit, and somewhat of a home chef. Whilst studying in Bath I volunteered for a programme called 'Lab in a Lorry', an organisation I found through the university. They tour the country in a large mobile unit kitted-out with several experiments and interactive demonstrations to bring science and mathematics to pre-GCSE children with the aim of peaking their interest. It is a joint venture of the Institute of Physics and the Schlumberger Foundation. I was able to volunteer several times and was privileged to be able to teach a wide range of age groups, which was vital experience for me as a soft introduction to teaching. During my time teaching I ran several practical demonstrations for the kids ranging from an introduction to fibre optics and their use in modern medicine and surgery, to an insight into polarisation of electromagnetic radiation and how it alters how we see our Sun. These experiences were extremely fulfilling, and encouraged me to become a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) ambassador whilst on placement in Oxford. This involved running several outreach programmes at local (and not so local) schools, with the intention of making science fun and more relevant to young children. Myself, accompanied by several other placement students, exposed scientific thinking and novel ideas to children of ages 6 to 12. Some of these activities included: telescopic observation of the moon, an insight into the specific electromagnetic dependent appearance of galaxies, the formation of stars and other stellar activities, as well as several other aeronautic and space based demos. I began giving private tuition in 2015 and have expanded my client base tenfold since starting out. My students have seen vast improvement under my supervision, with an average grade jump of over two grade boundaries. I have taught students from GCSE level all the way up to final year university students. The structure of my lessons is as follows: I will dedicate a third to one half of the allotted time to an overview of the method or theory that is to be covered in the session. The time dependence directly related to the difficulty and complexity of the subject at hand. This subset of time will be filled by an interactive slideshow covering the topic and basic examples of applications to everyday life. After this, I will introduce a few simpler example questions, that I will run through with my student in detail before handing the reigns over to them to answer multiple exam-style questions; for which I will give hints and review the necessary material before going through the method of the marker. This is a tried and tested successful technique. Upon approach of the examination period, the tutoring sessions will change to entirely question and answer based conditioning exercises. These will be example questions taken from previous papers and my personal stash of textbooks and notes. This method of teaching has worked extremely well with me over the last 10 years, and also with my previous tutees; and I have full faith that it will do wonders for future students too.

I had the privilege of being a member of the National Youth Orchestra for two years, with my second year being spent as the co-principal second violinist. During my time with the NYO I played in two BBC Proms performances, and worked with world-renowned conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson, Ed Gardner, Ilan Volkov, Paul Daniels, and Francois Xavier-Roth. The repertoire ranged from immense symphonic works such as Mahler’s 5th and 9th Symphonies, to groundbreaking new works by Unsuk Chin and Anna Meredith. I graduated earlier this year with a high 2.i in Physical Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. I am an experienced Science and Maths tutor up to degree level, I have experience teaching children with Speech Language and Communication needs, and I tutor for Oxbridge Personal Statements and entrance exams. I therefore have a vast amount of experience teaching children of all ages and abilities, and in a wide range of subjects (Maths, Science, Music). I find teaching and educating incredibly rewarding, and believe every student has the potential to achieve. Teaching Experience I have been tutoring for Science and Maths since my second year of A-levels. I have found that my pupils achieve their best when they feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions about the subject. I see teaching as a two-way process and pride myself on ensuring my pupils are empowered to do this. My most recent GCSE Maths student managed to increase his grade from a level 5 to a level 8/9 in the period he was working with me. I am currently employed part time in a North London Secondary School and Sixth Form, where I work in the SEN department as a Science and Maths specialist. This has given me a great deal of experience in teaching children with ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia. I also run the Science and Maths clubs at the school, where I take learning beyond the curriculum. For three years I have been working as an Oxbridge Interview Preparation and Personal Statement Advisor at my old Sixth Form College, BHASVIC. In this time I have built up a wealth of experience of the Oxbridge Application Process, including the newly introduced admissions tests for Natural Sciences (NSAA). In this time BHASVIC has maintained its status as having the highest Oxbridge application success rate of all state schools in the country. Having taught 20+ pupils over 4 years, I am an experienced Piano and Violin teacher, specialising in beginner-intermediate level. “My daughter often felt daunted by new or tricky pieces but Ollie’s kind and patient approach really helped her to grow in confidence. She got a distinction in her Grade 1 exam so it definitely worked!” – Lucy Foy, mother of Esme, Piano Pupil.

I am an experienced tutor with nine years of tutoring experience and just left my position working as secondary school Physics teacher to pursue full time tutoring. I have taught maths, chemistry and physics to A-level and biology up to GCSE. I am available during weekday evenings and weekends. I am a patient teacher who has worked with children of varying abilities with the objective of giving them the confidence to apply themselves to subjects which they may have found difficult in the past. I have a friendly, understanding disposition which puts the student at ease and helps to make their lessons something to look forward to rather than a chore.

Hi! I'm Ben and I am a Cambridge University masters student about to start my fourth year of physics, specialising in theoretical and mathematical modules. I have a deep passion for maths and physics, and perhaps an even greater passion for communicating my love and knowledge of the subjects, helping students to gain intuition and insight into the workings of both the abstract world of numbers and the highly mathematical world around us! Generally, I want to help you gain an intuitive understanding of the subject (as opposed to memorising how to do specific problems) as I strongly believe that this is the best way to boost your grade at any level. However, I am extremely flexible in my teaching methods depending on the student and the student's wishes. I will evaluate what I think you need help with and tailor the lessons accordingly. Although I prefer to focus on gaining a deeper and more intuitive understanding, I understand that you have a final goal: to achieve a certain grade in your exams. Luckily for you, I have taken maths and physics exams every year for the last 7 years and use the maths that I will be teaching you every day in my degree! Moreover, I have ‘been through the system' as recently as 2016 (when I took my A Levels) so I know what it takes; I achieved an A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. I strongly believe that, having repeatedly worked through and overcome the common stumbling blocks of school level maths and physics myself, I can help you to do the same. This year I achieved a high 2.i in my Natural Sciences BA at Cambridge University. I am excited to start next year's course when I will be studying general relativity, quantum field theory and particle physics! I also love languages, music, tennis and cycling and have kept these up throughout my degree. So whether you want to boost your grades or want that extra challenge that you do not receive at school I can help you to look at the subject in a new and intuitive way.
