I usually do not teach students that they already know, instead, start topic-wise past papers of the topics students feel he or she knows well.
I explain to students how to write the answer to the questions asked,... not what they know... in a very concise and complete manner and relate the answers to the mark schemes of the past papers... and there is a lot of similar things that I explain...

Hello! I am a current University of Oxford Material Sciences PhD student and have recently graduated from the University of Warwick with First Class Honours in Chemistry. Then I ask students to do questions under exam-conditions without my help, whilst stating their own thinking process aloud, so I can later help refine the way they approach problems and spot common mistakes in their understanding/method. Lastly, I encourage my students to practice further exam questions independently, in order to ensure their exam technique is consistent with mark schemes and model answers. I also am always happy for students to send me any questions they may have between lessons.
