[Kindly read through the description for the fees I charge for each level of tuition.] Hello, I'm Celene, a Teaching Associate at the University of Nottingham, where I did my PhD in Applied Mathematics. My research focused on the numerical and asymptotic analysis of nonlocal travelling wave equations, and I hold a First-class Honors MSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Manchester. I bring over ten years of tutoring experience, working with students of all ages and abilities, from primary school to university levels, both in-person and online. I taught Maths and Statistics at Nottingham Trent International College from 2023 to 2025. In 2021, I was honoured with the Postgraduate Teaching Assistant Award from the University of Nottingham for my demonstrative work in the School of Mathematical Sciences. I find immense joy in building students' confidence in mathematics and inspiring them to succeed not only in exams but also to enjoy and gain confidence in the subject. As an engaging and enthusiastic tutor, I am dedicated to ensuring that you or your child receives the best understanding of the subject. I specialise in identifying and addressing weaknesses and transforming them into strengths to help you reach your full potential. Whether you need that final push for an upcoming exam or have always found math confusing, I genuinely believe I am the one to help. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your best! Teaching Accomplishments: - Helped a Year 6 student pass her SAT for the first time. - Assisted a Year 7 student in moving up her Maths set from third to second in school. - Improved the grade of a Year 8 student from 60% to 80% in four months. - Enhanced the grade of a Year 8 student from 70% to 85% in one month. - Helped a Year 8 student improve from 57.5% and Set 4 to 85% and Set 3 in Year 9 within 20 lessons. - Supported a student’s progression from Set 3 in Year 7 to higher Set 1 by Year 10. - Raised the class test results of an AS Maths student from 37% (failed) to 65% (B) after 9 lessons. - Guided an IB AAHL student to improve from 65% to 81% in 15 lessons. Fees: - KS3 and KS4: * £40/hour (tailored lesson materials included) - A-levels / IB / Foundations: * £50/hour (if you provide your own materials) * £60/hour (for tailored lesson materials) - University levels: * £50-70/hour (depending on the level and availability of materials) Methodology: Everyone learns at a different pace, so I tailor our one-to-one tutoring sessions specifically for you. In our initial discussion, I'll assess your abilities, identify areas for improvement, and discuss your goals. Alternatively, I can test you on various topics to pinpoint areas needing extra support. Based on this information, I'll create a comprehensive plan for our initial lessons, where I'll explain topics using examples before guiding you through a range of questions with increasing difficulty. We'll conclude by tackling an exam question related to the topic, fostering confidence. Each tutorial will also include review sessions to reinforce previous topics, as mathematics is about practice, practice, practice! My teaching style focuses on engaging students through discussion and questions throughout the session to cultivate curiosity and active participation. My priority is to make you feel comfortable asking anything, ensuring a complete understanding of the material.

Hi! I'm Collette and I've been teaching ever since the age of 16, when I began teaching music lessons to local children, during my A levels, as my school music teacher recommended me to them. I think what my pupils and students enjoy most about my lessons is how much they are treated as individuals; I tailor my teaching to suit the personality and strengths of the learner. I believe everyone has different strengths - my job is to find out what these are, and use them to build the learner's confidence and enthusiasm for whatever they are trying to achieve. Parents repeatedly report that their child's general wellbeing and confidence is hugely benefitted by my approach to their lessons. I achieved all grades up to and including Grade 8 Distinction piano then ABRSM Advanced Certificate piano, plus Grade 8 Merit classical guitar (and many Distinctions in previous grades) as a child. After school, I studied in London, graduating from King's College, London with a BMus (Hons) Music Degree (with piano lessons at Royal Academy of Music, London) and then a Primary PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education teaching qualification) from the Institute of Education, London (part of University College London). I've taught in a wide variety of capacities to children and adults, throughout my career, both face-to-face and, over the last few years, online, including: mainstream primary, nursery and pre school teaching; specialist music classroom teaching; peripatetic music lessons; home-based music lessons (piano, classical guitar, theory, beginner singing) and school tutoring; TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teaching to homestay and online students. Please contact me if you would like further information. I am extremely adaptable in my one-to-one/small group teaching, and will always guide students in an encouraging and kind manner. As a mum to an 18 year old, I also know what parents and children need from their tutor. So, whether you are 4 or 94, I will be happy to help you achieve your potential. Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Having graduated with a Bachelors (BEng) degree in Biomedical Engineering, Masters (MRes) degree in Medical Physics, PgDip in Medical Imaging, and also set to start my PhD in September 2022, triple science, maths, and further maths are consistently used within my daily life therefore where my tutoring abilities are strongest. Always having been a natural polymath, the ability to understand a multitude of subjects has been second nature. Ranging from playing the piano from the age of 5, taking up saxophone in high school and achieving grade 5 in both Alto Saxophone and Music Theory, to programming and computing with python, MATLAB, and a range of other software. I have been privately tutoring A-level students in physics for a number of years, and have spent many more years tutoring friends and family, alongside mentoring younger university students.

I am a graduate from Imperial College London and Westminster School with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering MEng and have undertaken research at Imperial College London in the fields of green hydrogen and thermofluids. I also proofread scholarly articles and research journal papers for institutions such as ETH Zurich and Imperial College London. I have tutored for approximately 5500 hours over eight years and during this period I have helped over fifty students gain entry to higher education, that are currently studying STEM subjects at top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College. The vast majority have obtained A*s and As at A-Level. I also tutor several degree level students, five of which have just been awarded First Class and Upper Second Class honours in their respective subjects. I find the process of improving a student’s understanding very rewarding and focus on a wholesome learning experience, always inviting my students to ask questions and attempt problems by themselves before I explain a solution and subsequently work through similar problems step-by-step until the content is grasped. The main emphasis in my lessons is to develop sound conceptual understanding, followed by fluency in answering practise questions, thus targeting excellent performance in exams. I also offer advice on personal statements and help with interview and admission test preparation, and am at your disposal throughout the week for any phone calls about homework problems, university applications, careers, and so on. All this experience throughout has kept me aware of the challenges young learners face, the kindness, understanding, and dedication that lies in a good teacher, and the importance of tailoring communication and teaching styles to the needs of the particular student. On that note, finding a tutor who fits well with your requirements is never easy so do reach out to me for a short and free video chat so I can answer any questions you might have. In my spare time I hike and compose music for film (I also teach music). Instruments that I play include cello, piano, guitar, and I also sing. Please see below my qualifications and I look forward to meeting you! 2015: Ten A*s at GCSE and iGCSE 2017: Three A*s at A-Level in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics (100% in five exams) 2022: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London (Hons)

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hold a BSc degree in Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience, an MRes in Research Methods in Neurosciencem and an MA in Music Theatre. Although I have now had a drastic career change, I love using my spare time to tutor anyone (any age and any level!), and my wide variety of interests means I am able to cover a range of different subjects and topics, you'd be surprised at how many subjects actually overlap! At school, I achieved 11 A*-B GCSEs, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English Language and English Literature. My A-Levels were Biology, Psychology and Maths (Statistics). I am more than happy to tutor in any of these subjects, as well as my degree subjects, to the relevant level, as well. My style is very much student-led, aiming to get to know the student, and then work out how they may best benefit from my time. My main focus is always to build confidence and security, as more often than not this is what holds individuals back from progressing further. My previous tutoring experience consists of online turoing, as well as tutoring younger family members and my peers in person. My varied life experience means I am able to connect with people from different backgrounds, and to ultimately build a solid relationship that will enable the student fulfil whatever goals they wish to.

Conservatoire Diploma, BA in teaching piano, musical theory, composition and performance As a piano teacher I have profound and extensive knowledge in both subjects, general music (all styles) and all traditional and modern techniques to perform it. Can recognize abilities of every student to play the piano and find the best ways for them to progress as well as give advice to facilitate their progress. In my lessons I explain to the student the emotional background and style of the music they are performing . To create positive conditions for teaching and learning and encourage students to learn I give them some key information about when the music was made, its aesthetic background , and about the composer. I successfully use this approach to teach all age groups, children and adults, absolute beginners to advanced learners, preparing them for ABRS exams (all Grades) or just for fun. Apart from teaching, I continue performing classical piano music in different venues (pasting below links with samples of my playing). My passions are real art and nature. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010092108525 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCROH9v2UOGlEay6Ui6fO9FA

I specialise in jazz piano as I am a performer with many years experience. However, I can also teach piano and keyboards in blues, funk, soul, and classical styles. Some of my beginner students just like playing simple classical or popular pieces. I am able to teach performance, improvisation, ear training, practicing techniques, and group playing to students of any instrument. Many students get tired and/or bored in traditional piano lessons. Yet learning to play piano can and should be a joy that also helps the student grow in all respects: as a musician, student, and human being. With my piano lessons in Cheltenham, this is exactly what you will get: the best piano instruction, as well as personal mentoring to gain skills needed to accomplish your musical goals. This can lead to enormous fulfilment and personal joy, which will benefit you in your whole life! I am a patient and thoughtful tutor. As a person I am kind and unassuming. I am a good listener and I treat all my students with respect.

I am an education specialist and my passion is to help other people to achieve their goals and happiness. I have lived for sports my whole life and I am passionate about physical development. I have studied physical education in uni as a minor subject and on my free time I have done sports such as horse back riding, thaiboxing, golf, dance, fitness, gym, yoga and athletics. I have done basis studies from psychology which has especially helped my to understand people and their life stories, among how to motivate people for the best performances. Important aspect in these studies was also a mental health, who to support and encourage person who has a diagnose in mental health problems. Since I have been 6-years-old I have played piano regularly. I play mostly pop/jazz and I am happy to tutor someone at the quite beginning in their journey to learn to play piano.

Over my A-levels and gap year I worked face-to-face with many GCSE maths students (and a few younger) and lots of beginner, up to grade 5, piano students. I aim to be as enthusiastic and relatable as possible, as these subjects are the things I enjoy most and would love to see young people enjoy them as well, not just attempt to stay afloat. My absolute favorite parts of my subjects are algebra, which understandably is a struggling point for many young people, and in regards to music, that of musical theory and history, which I do try to incorporate a little of in my instrumental lessons as well. I also aim to help students with learning disabilities to overcome challenges as a result, and also to help them understand and incorporate the benefits of their neurodiversity. I myself have dyslexia, and am currently studying aspects of how dyslexics learn and memorize music. I have taught several students with dyslexia (and other learning disabilities), and hope to share strategies for coping with it, but also how it can actually help students in other aspects of education and life. My teaching style Maths - Firstly, every student is different, so in the first session I ask what the student struggles with the most, what they enjoy and how they prefer to learn (visually, practically, through theory or an example first etc). If they’re not too sure, I work through a range of questions with them, from a broad range of topics to establish their strengths, weaknesses and how they engage with problems. In subsequent lessons I prepare a topic to cover (or part of one), working through the theory by building up from important basics up to more complex questions and problem solving, working through questions together and then by themselves. I always ask at the beginning of sessions, however, if there is anything they struggled with during the week, at school or in homework, and cover that first if possible. If it is a bigger issue, meaning the basics of the topic are not yet understood, I plan a full lesson for a subsequent session. I have worked with many maths students, particularly at KS3 and GCSE level, and found this layout to be very successful (for both results and confidence in mathematical problem solving) and also encourages openness between myself and the student in terms of asking questions, discussing topics they find complex, and speaking up when they don’t understand something. In my experience, many students struggle with the principles of algebra and fractions, which have been rushed through when they were younger but form the basis of a lot of higher level maths. Once these topics are covered thoroughly, many students, I have found, are able to comprehend the rest of the course with considerably more ease. It was not too long ago that I sat these examinations myself, so I’m very familiar with what the exams include and how they expect the questions to be answered - of course every school and exam board is slightly different so I keep up to date with changes in exam board specifications. For younger students I ask to see if there is a year curriculum that has been handed out to the students, which there usually is, and if not we work through all the standard topics which are pretty much universal. Music - All lessons are different depending on the standard of the student and how they respond to different teaching methods. For beginners, I incorporate learning music notation as well as some learning by ear. As they grow with confidence with the notes and basic sight-reading and aural skills, I split the lessons into a fun warm up, where we might play through a short piece or they show me something they’ve enjoyed practicing that week, then some technical skills, such as scales, arpeggios, breath control etc, then work on pieces they’re learning, then finally a play through to finish and recap what we’ve learned that session. This lesson layout I generally keep with for more advanced students as well, although this depends on what they are working toward, be it exams, a recital, solo or group performance etc. I do not necessarily expect all my students to take ABRSM or other music exams if they do not want to, as it is not always helpful to the students in terms of what they want to be learning, and is in no way necessary. Often students want to do them, and I will have a conversation with parents and the student to establish what is best for them. I more encourage performances and finding what they love. The exams can be useful for UCAS and general experience, so I do not discourage taking them and am very familiar with the layout, having taken many and accompanied a few myself. I have taught from beginners, both children and adults, through to more advanced students performing regularly and guided them through exams, performance techniques, and some people starting to explore composition for their instrument. Some of the biggest difficulties that arise are students not being able to read music, which is imperative for exams and playing in (particularly classical and jazz) ensembles, so experience has taught me to really cover some theoretical and technical aspects every lesson, as well as the practical side. Most importantly I want to ensure my students engage with their studies in a positive way, and develop their own interests within the subject.
