I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at UCL and work as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Education at McGill University, Canada. I specialized in developmental psychology during my MSc. Studies at the Anna Freud Center, UCL. Over the course of my academic, clinical and professional careers, I tutored undergraduate students with their prerequisite psychology courses (Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Behavioural Neuroscience, Perception, Cognition). I have multiple years of experience working with hard-to-reach, hard-to-engage students in different complex settings. I am an experienced IB tutor in psychology and TOK. In addition, I mentor students with their university applications and personal statements (UCAS, Canadian & US applications). I believe in open, encouraging and attuned teaching. My basic tutoring approaches are to guide students to discover what type of learning style works for them; gain lots of feedback and tailor the sessions to suit the learning needs of students; combine multiple visual and creative strategies to encourage learning. I love to practice mindfulness and encourage all my students to use mindfulness strategies to deal with the different stressors in their lives. I am also a big fan of spoken word poetry.

I am a BSc Psychology graduate who is currently working as a primary school teaching assistant. I have spent over three years working as a tutor. Over this time, I have gained a thorough understanding of the national curriculum. I taught twelve classes a week in a range of subjects including Maths, English, Creative Writing, and Verbal Reasoning. My creative writing classes became so popular that I also began teaching them in the local library on weekends. I also have experience tutoring one to one with home schooled A-level clients. For each lesson, I create my own material and plan the lesson's structure and activities. After each lesson, I track the progress of each student using a progress sheet and set targets which would then be discussed further with their parent/carer. I am excellent at communicating with people of all ages, and I am a very bubbly and social individual with a friendly aura.

I am currently a Biochemistry Master's student studying at University College London (UCL). I previously graduated from Queen Mary, University of London with a BSc in Biochemistry. I gained my initial experience in tutoring by taking part in a tutoring programme which aimed to integrate students of the upper and lower sixth form years to provide personalized tutoring. Through this experience, I have helped a diverse group of students to achieve their full potential and be accepted into their top university choices. As a current graduate student myself, I am familiar with the stress and anxiety that A levels and GCSEs bring. I believe that the best way to alleviate this stress and anxiety is by tailoring and controlling your learning outside of the classroom. I take pride in providing personally tailored goals to enhance my students' learning, so that they can achieve their academic goals, in a pace and depth of understanding that fits their academic needs. My teaching approach is initially based upon identifying gaps and weaknesses of my students' knowledge, which may be hindering their progress in a specified subject. I then design my lessons around these sets of gaps and weaknesses, with accompanying lessons that reinforce the other course material that the student is currently covering. I believe that as a tutor, one of the major responsibilities is to promote the confidence of your students. I aim to achieve this by maintaining an encouraging atmosphere, where the students can feel relaxed and comfortable in, to ultimately nurture their learning in the years to come.

I have a PhD in English Literature and Psychology and have a book out in Rutledge’s mental health series. My PhD was about two psychosomatic syndromes (phantom limbs and BIID), and the ways in which they can be discussed in relation to literature, psychology, theory, and film. I have taught 3 courses to undergraduates at Goldsmiths University in the English Department. I have also taught psychoanalysis and film to adult learners and MA students, jave taught A-level psychology at Westminster Tutors for 2 years, and have taught level 4 and 5 students through The Brilliant Club in London. I have additionally taught at a nursery school for 3 years in San Diego, California. I have been teaching since 2005. I have tutored students of all ages for 7 years and love it! Last year, I was able to help one MA student, who was failing, to receive a high merit. We had a great relationship, and soon discovered that although she was very interested in the subject, she did not know how to identify the most significant points when reading, and turn them into academic expression. She eventually learned how to structure essays and individual sentences. By the end of her course, it was second nature. I additionally tutored her daughter in GCSE English, whose mark I helped her to raise significantly. Her daughter's biggest issues were grammar and essay structure, and she caught on very quickly and improved drastically. I care about my students very much and want them to do the best they can, and to also enjoy the learning process. Although I promote good marks and my students receive positive results, their enjoyment and interest is the top priority. Outside of tutoring, I write creatively, I'm a film buff, I love travelling (I'm from the USA) and I go to yoga whenever possible!

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Brunel University. I specialise in Science, Maths, English, Psychology and special educational needs. I have high expectations of my pupils with regards to them trying their personal best. I have a calm yet firm nature and believe in boosting the self confidence of my pupils as well as their academic knowledge so that they can thrive in their fields of study. I have taught in OFSTED Outstanding primary schools as well as Private SEN secondary schools covering pupils in primary, secondary and A level psychology pupils with outstanding results. I have specialist certification related to children with Autism and attention deficit disorder. My students on average are able to improve their grade in a very short amount of time. For example, I had an A level Psychology student who was able to improve his grade from a E grade to a C after 8 sessions with me. My teaching method is highly interactive. I believe in using different learning styles to enhance the experience of learning. This leads to effective teaching as well as a deeper understanding and enjoyment of learning from my students. I am very passionate about teaching and most parents and students say that what makes me stand out as a tutor is that they can see that I actually care for my students. I have high expectations of my students and I support my students with self confidence in believing that they can also thrive to the best of their ability. I believe that I can make a positive difference in my pupils lives and I take pride in doing so. Should you wish for your child to work with me, I am sure that you will not be disappointed with the results.

I have a Masters degree in Psychology from The University of Edinburgh and I currently home school A-level psychology and have been tutoring GCSE maths, art and science as well as all aspects of the 11+ Common entrance exams. I have also been helping my younger sister (who has a number of learning disabilities) with school work for years, which has definitely helped me develop not only tireless patience but also the ability to be able to adjust the way I teach to any level of understanding. I'm currently studying part time in Nutrition. I am passionate about cooking, reading and photography :) I believe that learning and studying doesn’t have to be a struggle. The key is to find out the learning style of each individual and adjust the lesson to match what works best for each person. It is also important to keep lessons and dynamic as possible, and even within an hour, to try alternate between reading, writing, testing etc.

In 2011 I graduated from the University Of Cambridge with a Degree in Education, English and Drama. Upon moving to London I began tutoring and have tutored hundreds of students over the past six years in an array of subjects from Primary English to A Level Theatre Studies to Degree Level Sociology and Psychology. I also teach Art and Media studies to A-level. Having gone to Cambridge University I have detailed knowledge of the application process to top Level universities and have tutored students to achieve their dream of winning a place at those universities. As well as this, for the past six years I have held a head of department position in the top Grammar & State School in the country (as of this years A level results). I have years of experience teaching in and out of the classroom and have a passion for helping students improve their knowledge, technique and future aspirations whatever they may be. My most recent success stories have been getting two students into Cambridge having seen them through all of their A Levels and helping several students achieve higher grades than predicted for their GCSE's. I also work as a freelance actor and director which affords me the advantage of being able to communicate well with others, not to mention employing different techniques with which to get the best out of my students. I am at a professional to expert level in all of my subjects but try to keep my costs down for my tutees.

My academic background is in neuroscience, and because of this I have a strong foundation in both biology and psychology. My career so far has been spent focusing on diseases of aging. I am currently a PhD student at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience, focusing on a gene therapy approach to treating dementia and motor neurone disease. I have a broad interest in the fields of biology and psychology far beyond my chosen speciality, and I have a lot to offer prospective students both in terms of subject expertise, and advice about developing a scientific career. I love teaching and find it incredibly rewarding to see students’ progress. I excel in explaining complicated scientific concepts clearly, using relevant examples to aid understanding and encourage knowledge retention. Although exam success is my top priority, I also aim for students to develop a broader understanding of scientific concepts and a sense of how a specific topic fits into the wider body of knowledge. I believe the best results come from genuine engagement with and enjoyment of a subject. Biology and psychology are subjects I find endlessly fascinating, and studying them has led me to a career that I love: I hope I can share my enthusiasm with my students, and that this will aid their academic success. I have experiencing tutoring biology and psychology up to A level, although I would also consider undergraduate students in selected subjects. My tutoring experience, in addition to working with children and teenagers in sports coaching roles, has taught me many valuable skills: I know how to keep students focused, I set clear learning objectives and my lessons are structured to quickly build on existing knowledge. Exam technique is often a key focus of my lessons, as in my experience errors here are often responsible for students getting lower grades than they really deserve. I use past papers extensively to help students understand the exam technique required and to work on precision and clarity when tackling questions. As someone who once struggled with self-belief when it came to my academic abilities, I am aware of how this can prevent students reaching their full potential. I understand that people develop at different paces and will find different things challenging. In my lessons there is no such thing as a stupid question – as far as I’m concerned, curiosity is always something to be encouraged as it will lead to deeper understanding of a topic. My aim is to create challenging lessons that push my students to question and think more deeply about a topic, while creating an environment where they feel confident to explore ideas, to ultimately to improve their exam performance. I am always patient, friendly, and work to build confidence so students realise just how achievable their goals are.

August 2018 - Present I currently work as a TV educational specialist in Mainland China - researching and presenting English for audiences across China. Sept. 2017 - August 2018 I tutored five students in A-level AQA psychology. I ran sessions covering course content and as exam season moved closer, I worked with the students on exam technique and essay writing. I am most comfortable tutoring the AQA specification. I can teach content or exam technique or a mixture but I try to structure my sessions to the individual student. For example, I like to ask students to complete short answer questions in timed conditions in the tutorial. Then help them work through the mark scheme to see what and why different answers gain marks. This helps with a deeper understanding and ability to apply this skill beyond the specific question given. September 2017 - January 2018 I tutored a 12-year-old boy with autism for three hours a week. Together we worked on maths, reading, writing and communication skills. Over the four months he progressed onto counting money up to £1 and number bonds up to 10. We have began sentence writing and the student was becoming a very competent reader! June 2017 - August 2017 I worked in the Oxford Summer School (Oxford Scholastica Academy) as an Activities Coordinator. In this role I helped the students with work, advice on university and careers as well as ensuring they were safe and discipline was upheld. July 2016 - August 2016 For 5 weeks in the 2016 summer I was teaching English to Sri Lankan children for an hour a week. This was part of a placement where I also helped in Disabled homes and in the Sri Lankan National Institute for Mental Health. I planned and ran sessions and lessons.

I'm a fully qualified teacher. I've taught in a variety of London schools over the last ten years. I work with a number of children preparing them for 11+, 13+ and 16+ exams, for schools such as St Paul's, Westminster and Oundle. I have extensive knowledge in this area, as well as GCSE science and Biology and Psychology A-level. Experience with hosting revision courses from groups of students, private one-to-one clients, and online tuition. Developed a holistic and versatile teaching approach based on experience working students from a diverse range of backgrounds in both the private and public education sector. Tutoring alongside mainstream teaching has meant acquiring an attention to detail for exam technique and constructive feedback methods. Inspiring pupils with enthusiasm for the subject, presenting material in a relatable and relevant manner and focusing on what’s important is a key aspect to my tutoring approach. Currently an AQA Examiner for Psychology. • 11+ Maths & English Tutor and Mentor, September 2014 – Present • Head of Psychology & Head of Forensic Science, July 2013 – June 2016 • Tutor of Employability Skills, Literacy & Numeracy, January 2013 – August 2013 • A-level Teacher of Psychology & Biology, January 2010 – Present

I use a very flexible, student-centred approach, catering to the individual needs of students who learn differently. I believe building confidence and self-advocacy goes hand-in-hand with teaching skills and metacognitive strategies. With over 3 decades’ experience working with dyslexic, AD/HD, Aspergers, gifted and other neurodivergent and exceptional students, I focus on discovering the STRENGTHS of pupils to mitigate their needs. All students learn differently and all students can learn once we find their cognitive style. I hold an MSEd in Exceptional Educational Needs and a BA in English as well as a PGCert in Information & Library Studies. I have worked mainly at the secondary and High School level teaching in all subjects. I specialise in the American Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and in research and essay-writing skill development. I prefer to use a "live workshopping" approach using Zoom whiteboard or the Edit-Suggest tool in Google docs so students can follow my written editorial suggestions in a real-time 1:1 intensive session while I simultaneously provide oral feedback. My students typically come to me suffering mediocre attainment, low confidence, and untapped potential but leave/graduate with huge improvements beyond parental expectations--as my recommendations will confirm. Over my 30-year career, I have helped hundreds to achieve success. I also specialise in preparation for American examinations including College Board AP (Advanced Placement) ACT, SAT and PSAT exam preparation. I am also qualified in psycho-educational and psychometric testing by the BPS (British Psychological Society) and can provide pre-diagnostic testing and screening for suspected dyslexia and dyscalculia and IQ testing for cognitively gifted and twice-exceptional students. I have enhanced DBS clearance, having worked for many years in independent schools and with HNW families in Surrey. As a teacher as well as the parent of a teen with dyslexia who is also gifted, I have a unique insight into the strengths and needs of twice-exceptional students and familiar with the emotional sensitivity that such students often possess. I have worked mainly within the International school system with “Third Culture Kids” and dependents of high net-worth foreign nationals and expats living in the Greater London area. I am happy to supply references from previous clients (parents of clients) upon request.

I am a tutor with over 5 years experience teaching 1-to-1 and with groups. I have a BA Degree in Philosophy from the University of Sussex, an MA degree (also in Philosophy) from King's College London, and am currently working on a PhD at UCL. My area of focus for my PhD lies in examining the intersection between philosophical, theological and psychological discourse. My PhD training has given me many opportunities to present my ideas in front of groups of researchers, which has sharpened my ability to deliver concise and informative lectures. In my many years of experience as a tutor, I have often seen the immediate impact 1-to-1 tuition can make. I have a real passion for helping people to achieve their full potential, and to invigorate their thirst for knowledge. I have seen time and time again that successful students are always the ones who have been inspired by the subject they are studying, and achieving this is my goal as a tutor. Often students, especially those studying humanities, say that they don't 'see the point' in what they are learning, and therefore find it difficult to motivate themselves. Paradoxically, however, once one understands why a certain topic matters, the learning process develops properly, and good exam results are naturally achieved. One of the main problems I have observed is that humanities students expect a 'scientific' approach to work for their exams, in which memorisation and repetition are the foundational elements of revision. However, in the humanities subjects, 'how' one explains something is just as important as 'what' one explains. I always try to give students advice on this important, and often overlooked, point. What always shines through in essays is the depth of the student's engagement with the material. You can't simply memorise notes or learnt answers. Of course, there is a certain amount of exam technique, but the bulk of revision lies in deepening an overall understanding and appreciation for what one is learning. This is what I try to achieve with my students. I am a fluent Italian speaker, and have many years experience teaching beginner, and intermediate aspiring Italian speakers. I have taught at GCSE and A-Level, as well as older students who want a working knowledge of Italian.
