I am an experienced Maths and English tutor for GCSE students and below. I have previously studied at a grammar school and achieved a degree in Maths and Computer Science from a well known red-brick university. I currently work as an IT Manager and have done so for the last 16 years. Alongside this I have over 10 years tutoring experience in Maths and Computer Science and have seen significant improvements in several students during this time. Making the difference is my main objective as well as making lessons fun. I have worked with students both on a one to one basis and in groups. This has also included online tuition via Skype/Zoom alongside more traditional face to face tuition. I believe that my excellent communication skills and solid academic background enable me to be an effective tutor within my subject fields.

I am an enthusiastic teacher and a proven manager who has a successful record in aiding students to attain high academic performance and getting into their chosen universities. I understand the various contexts in which I work and am able to demonstrate this through my vast experience and versatile skill set. I am a strong believer in effective, enthusiastic and engaging teaching and learning which leads to successful lessons and high achieving results. I am fully aware of the central principles, judging the quality of standards of lessons and assessing and evaluating effectiveness that teaching of my subject has on the students. Delivering the UK National Curriculum in Secondary schools for over 13 years, has allowed me to have a sound understanding of these standards, alongside the best methods of meeting them. I differentiate my teaching to that it challenges students, alongside supporting their individual learning needs. Any opportunities to bring teaching ‘alive’ is something that I relish, particularly within exciting subjects like Business Studies and Economics that lend themselves well. Co-managing Young Enterprise for three years and aiding students in setting up their own businesses has enabled such opportunities, whereby students have been able to appreciate the application of business theory to real-life experiences. On two occasions, the Young Enterprise Teams have entered the ‘London Finals’ whereby they were one of five finalists from 550 teams. In addition, I have successfully run the Bank of England ‘Target 2.0 Competition’ within my school, achieving ‘Runner’s up’ position on 3 occasions. This has allowed the students to better understand Macroeconomics and the application of it in the UK economy and, the interdependent relationship between the macroeconomic indicators.

My name is Samuel and I graduated from Cambridge University in 2007 with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. In addition to this, I hold a Professional Tutoring Certificate (Distinction awarded) and I am a fully qualified teacher too. I have a passion for teaching/tutoring Mathematics and Sciences (mostly Physics, Chemistry and Biology) to GCSE and A-level students. I have mentored and tutored students from an assorted array of backgrounds since 2002, helping some to get to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities and helping them with interview preparations when requested. My teaching journey started in 2002 when I took a year out working as an assistant/support teacher actively involved in mentoring, lesson planning and marking. I take pride in having been commended for my teaching style where I always ensure to explain everything in the simplest of manners and take an approach that most suits the student to bring out their best effort. After graduating from Cambridge, I went on to seek professional employment as a graduate engineer but never left my passion for teaching. I therefore volunteered as a STEM ambassador where I shared my passion for Science and Mathematics to students from various backgrounds. I continue to take utmost joy and pleasure in tutoring and helping students attain their full potential; and in this regard, I can assure any prospective students that they’ll be getting the most out of their time and money whilst paving way for a bright future.

I am currently a postgraduate student working for a Masters in English Literature at Oxford University, with the intention of starting a PhD at Oxford next year. I was an undergraduate in English Literature at Cambridge University, where I achieved a First in all three years. I have a huge amount of passion for my subject, which I would love to pass onto others as I tutor them. I also understand the difficulties that studying English literature can pose, however, from structuring essays on set texts to style of writing in unseen work or creative writing, and I am able to help develop these skills and overcome these difficulties. As well as receiving a D1 in English Pre-U, I studied Spanish and Latin Pre-U at Westminster School, receiving a D1 in Spanish and a D2 in Latin. I strongly believe that languages are the most enriching subjects you can study, both intellectually as they challenge you to think more closely about the language and grammar that we use every day (Latin in particular encourages you to think about the roots of our language and the complexities of grammar, something I find particularly interesting), but also practically, as being able to speak Spanish opens up a whole world of people, experiences and opportunities which would otherwise have been impossibilities. With my help, students could conquer these languages and uncover the enriching and exciting possibilities that they offer. I also studied Maths to A-Level, where I received an A*. As someone who studied Maths as a complement to other humanities subjects, I like to think that I have a somewhat unique angle from which I can approach Maths teaching, which may be of help to those who are struggling at Maths and would like an extra helping hand. My main experience has been volunteering-based, as I was a volunteer for 2 years at a special-needs school, where I helped out in the classroom with a range of age-groups, teaching subjects from Science to English. I also have two younger siblings, whom I have helped with their schoolwork for a number of years, in particular informally tutoring my brother in Latin and English.

I am currently in the final year of a PhD in chemistry at UCL following an MChem degree at the University of Durham. As part of my duties and responsibilities as a PhD student, I have taken part in laboratory demonstrating and marking for the undergraduate students. I have enjoyed talking through the chemistry of the students' experiments and have found more effective ways to communicate science over time. When marking, I leave no stone unturned and always emphasise the use of concise and precise scientific language in answering questions. I am keen to bring this thorough approach to more students at the crucial GCSE and A-level stage via one-to-one tutoring.

[Hello! My teaching schedule is fully booked for this term (up until January 2022). If you are interested in taking lessons with me, please contact me again around early January 2022 to make bookings for next year!] Hi, I am Celene or you can call me Jia Yin. I am a third year PhD student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Nottingham. My PhD focuses on the numerical and asymptotic analysis of nonlocal travelling wave equations. I graduated with First-class Honours in Msc in Applied Mathematics the University of Manchester. I am passionate about Mathematics and I have always found great joy in building students’ confidence in the subject through my passion and knowledge. I have been a tutor for over seven years. I have teaching experience with all age groups and abilities, including students who are in primary school years, all the way up to University students, both in person and online. In 2021, I received a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant Award from the University of Nottingham for the demonstrating work I have done in the School of Mathematical Sciences. My classes range from one-to-one up to one-to-fifty ratio. One of the best feelings throughout my years of tutoring was not only helping my students succeed in their exams, but also being able to inspire them to enjoy Maths themselves as they gained confidence in the subject. I am a very engaging and enthusiastic tutor who is devoted to ensuring that you/your child receives the best quality in understanding this subject. I specifically tackle your weaknesses and turn them into your strengths so you can achieve your full potential! So, whether you are a student who needs that final push for an upcoming exam or has always found Maths confusing, I truly believe I am the one to help! I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your best! Here are some examples of my teaching accomplishments: - Helped a Year 6 student to pass her SAT for the very first time. - Assisted a Year 7 student in moving up her Maths set in school. - Improved the grades of a year 8 student from 60% to 80% in four months. - Improved the class test results of an AS Maths student from 37% (failed) to 65% (B) after 9 lessons. Methodology: Everyone learns best at a different pace so I will tailor our one-to-one tutoring sessions specifically for you. In our first discussion I like to find out about your ability, what areas and skills you would like to work on, and what time frame and goals you have in mind. Or if I you prefer, I can test you on a number of topics to understand which areas you need extra support with. From this I can begin to come up with a comprehensive plan for my first few lessons, where I will explain the topics by covering some examples before letting you to try on a range of questions with increasing difficulty. This would then be followed by tackling an exam question on the topic when you feel more confident. I will also include review sessions in each tutorial, where I will ask a few questions based on previous topics we covered. After all, Maths isn’t about memory, it’s practice, practice, practice! My personal style of teaching is focused on engaging students through discussion and questions throughout the session to help students become more inquisitive and engaged with their studies. My priority is to make you feel comfortable asking anything no matter how simple it might be just to ensure complete understanding of what is being taught or reviewed.

Hi, I’m Reem! I have a bachelors degree in Biomedical Science from University of Manchester and I have over 4 years experience tutoring both GCSE and A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I have experience with different exam boards like AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas and I have taught over 5000 hours, including face to face and online sessions. Tutoring Experience: I started tutoring while I was at university and realised how much I enjoyed teaching so I continued tutoring on a full-time basis after I graduated. I have felt a true sense of job satisfaction with tutoring because I get to help my students achieve their target grades and get into university. I also appreciate the flexibility tutoring provides as it has allowed me to continue studying. I am currently studying statistics and a few programming languages before I start my masters in Bioinformatics at Imperial College London. Being a student, I have the experience of studying for many exams especially ones that required writing essays. I adopted different effective learning techniques that helped me learn a lot of information and helped me recall the information during exams. Tutoring Approach: I am passionate about the subjects I teach and I try to instil the same enthusiasm in my students as well. I treat each student as an individual and I adjust my teaching style to accommodate their needs and make learning enjoyable. I become quickly aware when a student has not understood a concept and change my angle of explanation until they do understand. Generally my sessions include the following: -I cover all topics in details and make sure all the objectives in the specification are understood by the student. I use a digital drawing pad and share my illustrations using platforms such as Skype, Microsoft Teams or Zoom. I also make use of images and animations to help with my explanations since the brain is highly visual and retains more information when presented with images. -I consistently question the student throughout the lesson to ensure they are engaged and understand what is being taught. One of the learning methods of testing yourself regularly is known as active recall, which helps your brain strengthen the ability to retain and retrieve the information from memory quicker. -I provide topic-based past paper questions for the student to practice so they grow more confident as the learn how to apply their knowledge to exam questions. -I share different learning techniques that have helped me, like the use of mind maps/spider diagrams, Anki flashcards and effective revision timetable. Another effective method of memorising is called spaced practice, where learning occurs over multiple periods at different points in time. The forgetting curve states that the decline of memory retention over time is exponential and resetting the curve can be done by reviewing content at spaced intervals. This is why repetition over spaced intervals is important as it helps encode the information into our long-term memory. -Finally I provide feedback on how the student is progressing and what further improvements can be made. Thanks for reading till the end and please feel free to ask me any questions!

I am an enthusiastic tutor who is keen to find innovative ways to break down difficult concepts into simple understandable information. I have a varied academic background. After graduating from medicine at Imperial College London, I was offered a job at a commercial law firm in London. I accepted this job offer, and am currently completing my legal qualifications before I start working as a trainee solicitor. During my time at Imperial College London, I completed a teaching skills course where I attended educational principle workshops and passed an assessment on teaching sessions delivered independently to junior medical students. Furthermore, I have worked as a coordinator and senior tutor at the Imperial Pathways to Medicine Summer School, where I conducted mock medical school interviews and delivered teaching presentations on medical school entrance exams. Academic Achievements in relevant subjects: -Economics: Achieved 98% at A-level, and studied economics further as part of my intercalated Management BSc at Imperial College Business School. -Maths: Achieved A* at IGCSE. Distinction in the Hamilton Olympiad. -English Language: Achieved A* at IGCSE, and have further refined my English language skills as part of my Post Graduate Diploma in Law

I am a current undergraduate student at Durham University in my second year of an integrated masters degree in Physics and I achieved A*/A*/A/B in my A level exams in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Music. I have a year and a half tutoring experience from GCSE to pre-university level and have also tutored adult learners looking to become mature students. My lessons are conducted online, and I will spend our first 15 minute meeting getting to know you and how I can best help you achieve your goals. Subsequent lessons will be tailored to the student, focusing on either learning new concepts, revision, practising exam technique or a combination of all three. As the student, you guide which topics we cover but I will offer advice if you are unsure as to what would be beneficial. As a current student myself, my sessions have a relaxed atmosphere and rather than having a 'teacher' I am more like a peer mentor. Having recently sat my own GCSE and A level exams, I am well acquainted with a variety of specifications, including international qualifications, and what life in school is currently like. In my spare time, I am a keen musician, playing the cello with multiple university orchestras and singing in one of the choirs. I also enjoy learning languages including German, French and Russian.

I have been a Qualified Teacher for 22 years, working in secondary schools, until taking early retirement late last year. I've a BSc in Cell and Molecular Sciences, an MSc in Science, and a PGCE (secondary science). Whilst working as a full time teacher, I also taught ICT, design technology, art, English and horticulture, so I have developed a really good range of teaching strategies for students of all ages and abilities. I have tutored maths outside of school, working with two students who were trying to get their level 4 in maths - both of whom were successful! I have also run small group revision sessions in school on a regular basis. Generally I find that if a student wants to improve, the key is to develop their confidence. Talking to them to find out why they need the specific qualification, what their interests are, their personal academic strengths and where they think their weaknesses are all allow me to tailor sessions in such a way as to make a subject more accessible. Outside of teaching, my interests are art (I am a printmaker and painter), cycling (both on and off road) and music (I have been learning to play the guitar for a number of years now). I have experience with the AQA and Pearson Boards

I am a 3rd year Maths student studying at Durham University. I attended sixth form in North London at Woodhouse College where I studied 3 A-Levels: Maths, Further Maths and Physics which I achieved an A*, A and B respectively. Prior to this, I attended The Totteridge Academy where I was part of the first cohort to sit the 9-1 English and Maths and I got a level 9 in Maths. I have been tutoring for the past 4 years; a mixture of levels ranging from 11+ and primary to A-Levels more recently. I have experience with tutoring online and in person. During Summer 21, I worked at a summer school for 4 weeks teaching Maths. As my tagline states, I let the student learn. This means that sometimes I will put the student out of their comfort zone in order for them to thrive under the pressure they will encounter when sitting their exams. Outside of tutoring I like to attend the gym and I play football.
